Job summary

Pay.UK is seeking a Data Scientist to turn complex data into clear insights and practical models within a trusted payments environment. You will work with colleagues across the organisation to inform decisions, improve data capability and deliver transparent analyses.

The role focuses on forecasting, data preparation, and building robust models while ensuring high-quality outputs and effective communication of findings to non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Professional experience in a Data Scientist role with predictive or statistical modeling
• Solid applied experience using Python and SQL to extract, prepare, analyse, and model data
• Solid grounding in statistics and machine learning with ability to choose and evaluate methods for business questions
• Experience presenting technical findings clearly to non-technical audiences
• Experience working with large, complex datasets and applying quality checks, documentation and validation

Responsibilities

• Analyse large and complex datasets to identify patterns, trends and risks relevant to Pay.UK’s services and operations
• Build, test and refine statistical and machine learning models for forecasting and decision-making
• Prepare clear visualisations, reports and presentations that explain methods, findings and limitations
• Work with business and technical teams to define data questions and shape analytical approaches
• Translate business problems into structured analytical tasks, including data prep and model evaluation
• Improve data quality and analytical processes by documenting methods and validating outputs
• Use SQL and programming tools to extract, clean and transform data from multiple sources
• Contribute to repeatable methods, standards and shared learning across data and AI capability
