Job summary

National Energy System Operator Limited (NESO) is seeking a Data Scientist in Glasgow to advance connections insights and reporting. You will apply data science, statistical modelling and machine learning to operational and regulatory datasets, creating predictive and prescriptive insights for performance and risk management.

You will build scalable data assets, collaborate with policy, engineering and leadership to deliver clear, data-driven decisions and governance.

Qualifications

• Experience as a data scientist or insight analyst turning complex data into analysis, reporting and recommendations.
• Strong Python, SQL, Excel and Power BI skills for data extraction, transformation, validation and dashboards.
• Ability to communicate data clearly to non-technical audiences and work with stakeholders.
• Degree in a relevant analytical, numerical or technical subject; knowledge of the GB energy sector advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Translate strategic priorities into data science questions and measurable success criteria.
• Lead development and delivery of reporting, engaging stakeholders for analytical requirements.
• Source, engineer and validate complex datasets for modelling and insight.
• Design and validate statistical, ML, forecasting and optimisation models.
• Create reproducible pipelines and translate results into clear narratives for leaders.
