Job summary

BRUSH Group seeks a Data Scientist to transform data into trusted insights within the Group IT Data & AI team. You will design, develop and deploy BI, advanced analytics, ML models and AI-driven solutions across the business.

This hands-on role covers problem definition through deployment and monitoring, with accountability for measurable value and governance standards shaping data science adoption across the Group.

Qualifications

• Degree in Data Science or a related numerate discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Evidence of continued professional development in BI, data science, advanced analytics, ML, AI.
• Strong understanding of statistical methods, experimental techniques, and ML principles.
• Advanced data science and analytical capability, with the judgement to turn complex business challenges into robust approaches and measurable outcomes.
• Strong practical capability in Python and SQL across data exploration, feature engineering, modelling and validation, with experience of Spark and modern cloud data platforms.
• Expertise in statistical analysis, forecasting, predictive modelling, classification, clustering and optimisation, including developing and deploying production machine-learning solutions.
• Experience helping a growing data function establish technical standards, governance, best practices and effective ways of working.
• Proven success in a Data Scientist or comparable advanced analytics role, delivering measurable operational or commercial value.
• Substantial end-to-end experience defining, building, deploying and monitoring machine-learning and advanced analytics solutions in production or operational environments.

Responsibilities

• Translate business challenges into BI, analytical, statistical and ML solutions.
• Identify patterns, trends and opportunities within complex datasets to support strategic decisions.
• Develop, validate and deploy predictive models and AI solutions delivering measurable business value.
• Develop and maintain governed, trusted datasets for BI/analytics and data science use cases.
• Ensure data quality, lineage and governance controls across the analytics lifecycle.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers to ensure data pipelines meet reporting and modelling needs.
• Contribute to design and optimization of data models for analytics and ML.
• Assist in preparation, cleansing, transformation and feature engineering of data for analytics uses.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation and decision making through advanced analytics and AI.
