Job summary

Tesco Insurance & Money Services in Newcastle is seeking a Data Scientist to join the Operational Excellence team. You will use advanced analytics and modelling to solve complex problems, improve customer outcomes and drive business impact in our Claims operation.

This hybrid role requires experience with large datasets and AI/ML models, with hands-on work on predictive models, governance for data safety, and collaboration with technical and non-technical colleagues.

Office Attendance - Our hybrid working model gives you the best of both worlds - flexibility to work from home and valuable face-to-face time with colleagues. This role typically requires 2 days per week onsite.

We're looking for a Data Scientist to join our Operational Excellence team at Tesco Insurance & Money Services.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing data function within our Claims business, where you'll use advanced analytics and insight to solve complex problems, improve customer outcomes, and drive meaningful business impact. What you’ll be doing

• Creation, maintenance and the continuous improvement of our new predictive models within our claims department.
• You'll need to apply data science techniques to model customer behaviours to drive better decision making, a better customer journey, improved business outcomes and cost controls.
• Adherence to our governance framework to keep our data safe.

What we’re looking for (minimum criteria)

• Previous experience working with Microsoft Fabric (or Databricks) to create and maintain AI/ML models
• Experience working with large, complicated datasets.
• An ability to manage own workload and re-prioritise when required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills to share insights with technical and non-technical audiences.

And if you have any of these, even better

• Experience within Financial Services, Banking, or a similarly regulated commercial environment is advantageous.
