Location: London, United Kingdom (Hybrid working options available)
Salary: £104,000 per year
About the Role
We are seeking a talented Data Scientist to join our Conversion Experiences group. Operating much like a dynamic e-commerce unit centered on product data science, this team focuses on optimizing user interactions, consumer-facing retail models, and offerings across major global consumer platforms. Rather than routing traffic off-site, you will work on product analytics to assess total addressable markets, execute feature experiments involving parameters like shipping or organic materials, and evaluate buyer interactions alongside purchasing trends.
Workflow cycles feature initial setup and test preparation, a hands-off execution window, evaluation phases, and resolving key analytical inquiries between testing cycles. This position leverages internal proprietary tools, with scripting performed mainly in Python. Please note that backend software engineering and production model deployment fall outside the scope of this role, as team members rely extensively on automated multi-agent frameworks and advanced tooling to execute analytical tasks efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge of statistics, machine learning, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to recognize patterns, identify opportunities, pose business questions, and make valuable discoveries leading to prototype development and product improvement.
- Use a flexible, analytical approach to design, develop, and evaluate predictive models and advanced algorithms that lead to optimal value extraction from complex and high-dimensional datasets.
- Generate and test hypotheses, and analyze and interpret the results of product experiments.
- Work with product engineers to translate prototypes into new products, services, and features, and provide guidelines for large-scale implementation.
- Provide Business Intelligence (BI) and data visualization support, including support for online customer service dashboards and other ad-hoc requests requiring data analysis and visual support.
Key Skills & Requirements
- Core Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, and/or R, big data tools, or data visualization platforms like Tableau.
- E-commerce & Industry Background: Previous experience in the e-commerce sector, specifically within advertising platforms or alongside major retail enterprises.
- Experimentation Domain Expertise: Strong domain expertise in advertising along with practical, hands-on knowledge of experimentation methodology.
- Independent Execution: Strong individual contributor (hands-on) capability to drive work independently, rather than acting as a people manager supervising team members.
- Communication: The ability to communicate effectively in writing, including conveying complex information clearly.
- Data Experience: Extensive experience working with large datasets.
- Education: Relevant degree in computer science or in a relevant field.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Previous experience within major consumer technology or e-commerce environments.
- Experience integrating analytics with machine learning infrastructure to autonomously construct and validate feature recommendations for products.
- Familiarity with cutting-edge automated agent frameworks and AI tooling.
What Makes This Role Interesting?
- Pioneering Innovation: A distinct opportunity to operate at the forefront of AI-powered e-commerce analytics, a space pioneered by very few global organizations utilizing cutting-edge personal agent and automated frameworks.
- High-Impact Scope: Shape user experiences and consumer interactions at a massive global scale.
- Autonomous Environment: A strong focus on individual milestone creation, structured quantitative evaluations, and driving core analytical findings to spur direct business impact.
