Job summary

Elsevier is seeking a Strategy & Operations Director (Data Science) to partner with the COO & Chief of Staff and drive performance, governance and organisational effectiveness across the Data Science division.

You will translate strategy into priorities, build dashboards and scorecards, and lead high-impact cross-functional initiatives while maintaining the highest standards of analytical rigour and commercial judgement.

Qualifications

Significant experience in strategy, business operations, transformation, performance management, consulting or a comparable role.
Experience working with senior executives in a complex, matrixed organisation.
Strong analytical capability and the ability to make sense of complex data.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain an integrated view of performance across the Data Science division using financial, operational, product and delivery metrics.
Translate Data Science strategy into clear priorities, initiatives and measurable outcomes.
Support COO & Chief of Staff in leadership meeting prep, briefings and decision-ready analyses.
Identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve decision-making and remove organisational friction.
Lead or support cross-functional initiatives, ensuring resources align with high-value priorities.
