Job summary

Elsevier is seeking a Strategy & Operations Director for the Data Science Ops team, reporting to the COO & Chief of Staff. You will shape how the Data Science organisation performs, turning data into actionable insights and partnering with senior leaders across Finance, Product, Technology and HR.

The role demands strategic thinking, strong analytics, and proven execution, with a bias toward delivering tangible improvements and operating rhythms that align resources with top priorities.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and execution capability.
• Experience working with senior leaders in a complex organisation.
• Knowledge of data science or AI tools advantageous.
• Strategy/consulting background is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an integrated view of performance across the Data Science division across financial, operational, product, delivery and organisational measures.
• Define OKRs, KPIs and performance indicators along with leadership.
• Establish leadership scorecards, dashboards, operating reviews and follow-up mechanisms.
• Identify trends, risks, bottlenecks and underperformance; propose improvements.
• Translate data into insights and recommendations for senior stakeholders; drive practical interventions.
• Support translation of Data Science strategy into priorities and measurable outcomes.
