Job summary

Amgen is seeking a Mathematician/Statistician to join its Data Science team, working across study design and conduct. The role involves developing statistical models, applying Monte Carlo simulations, and translating methods into software using R and Python.

Qualifications

• Excellent exam and course work grades from the first year of the degree in the stated discipline per role.
• Good communication and organisational skills and a self-motivated, proactive approach to work.
• Ability to work in teams and remain flexible to changing priorities.
• Genuine interest in healthcare/pharmaceutical industry and willingness to learn new areas.
• Excellent data analytical skills.
• For Statistics and programming roles: strong understanding of statistics and/or programming and experience in at least one programming language.

Responsibilities

• Design advanced mathematical/statistical models for designing and forecasting clinical trials.
• Apply Monte Carlo techniques to simulate trial characteristics.
• Develop software in R and Python to implement models on real trial data.
• Collaborate with data scientists and study teams to share knowledge and learn modern Data Science directions.
