Job summary

South West Water Limited in Exeter is seeking a Data & Reporting Scientist to join the Water Resources team, transforming data from multiple sources into clear, actionable information through reporting, visualisation and advanced analytics.

You will develop insights for operational performance, regulatory reporting and long-term planning, working with stakeholders to deliver bespoke data solutions and build a modern, data-driven reporting function in a crucial public service.

Qualifications

• Degree in Statistics, Data Science, Environmental Science, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field.
• Experience analysing and interpreting large datasets.
• Experience with Power BI and reporting tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience producing accurate reports to defined standards.
• Excellent communication skills for non-technical audiences.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Collect, manage and transform data from internal and external sources.
• Analyse large datasets to identify trends, patterns and forecasts.
• Develop reports, dashboards and visualisations using Power BI.
• Apply data science techniques and ML where appropriate.
• Support regulatory and performance reporting ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Water Resources to deliver bespoke data solutions.
• Conduct quality assurance to maintain data integrity and reporting standards.
• Contribute to data analytics strategy within the Water Resources team.
• Support continuous improvement of a modern, data-driven reporting function.
