Arbuthnot Latham has been associated with banking since 1833. We combine private and commercial banking, wealth planning and investment management. We believe in traditional relationship and service-led banking powered by modern technology.

Job Purpose

The main objective is to ensure that, as a Bank, we become a data driven organisation. That we understand our data, where is it mastered, how it is used and that systems and data are working effectively to support and improve internal processes and service to clients. The role will lead the data quality assurance programme, improve adoption of data collection, assess the impact of data changes, monitor data attributes such as data standards, audit tracking and field validation rules to ensure they are up-to-date and relevant.

To place the interests of customers at the centre of all activities, act in a way that is consistent with achieving good outcomes for consumers and to comply with the FCA and PRA's Conduct Rules.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that data held within the Banks core systems is complete, valid and available for business and regulatory reporting, working with business areas to increase system usage and adoption.
  • Manage a data quality team to deliver the Data Quality Assurance Programme that will ensure data standards are being adhered to, data quality is improved and manual intervention ahead of business and regulatory reporting is reduced.
  • Create and monitor metrics on data quality suitable for reporting to senior managers and bank committees and forums.
  • Proactively seek out missing information or issues with accuracy and availability of data, recommending activities to resolve and work with relevant business areas to improve data input and collection.
  • Create and regularly review the data standards that are applied to data fields within Banks core systems to ensure they are still relevant and aligned to industry standards.
  • Work with the Data Reporting Manager(s) to ensure that data is available for business reporting and co-ordinate any updates or remedial action as required.
  • Coordinate the Banks submissions for Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) reporting, ensuring that the reporting systems and data are in line with the published requirements.
  • Maintain an awareness of relevant external and competitor trends and use to drive improvements.
  • Support changes to business processes and systems by assessing data impacts and ensuring changes and newly acquired data adhere to regulatory requirements and business policies and standards.
  • Support data related projects and where relevant co-ordinate data migration and validation / cleanse activities.
  • Document the attributes for data held, including but not limited to information flow across other bank systems, agreed data standards, where data is mastered, auditable fields, encryption type and monitoring within the data dictionary.
  • Ensure effective issue escalation to senior management where client or system impacts are identified.
  • Work with approved external suppliers / partners to deliver changes within agreed timescales.
  • Support the Director of Service Strategy and Optimisation in shaping data ownership in line with the Bank’s data strategy.
  • Own and manage data quality artifacts, such as data quality Power BI reports and data quality issues log.

Knowledge/Experience/Skills:

  • Demonstrable expertise in defining and managing data across multiple systems and business areas.
  • Strong background in data quality management principles, approaches, and techniques with knowledge of DAMA frameworks.
  • Experience of implementing data quality frameworks, policies, and standards.
  • Experience in establishing and running data forums
  • Knowledge of working business standards and regulations that are relevant to the finance industry
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Technical skills in SQL, Python, and Power BI
