Job summary

Gowling WLG in Birmingham is seeking an experienced data protection professional to join the General Counsel team. You will act as a subject matter expert, advising on data protection and privacy obligations and supporting the firm across regulatory matters.

The role involves interpreting legislation, guiding colleagues through breaches, data subject requests, and regulatory notifications, and collaborating with teams across the business.

Qualifications

• Experience in data protection and privacy gained in private practice, industry or regulatory environment.
• Ability to interpret legislation and provide practical regulatory/compliance guidance.
• Experience handling data breaches, subject access requests, complaints and regulatory notifications is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Advise on data protection and privacy obligations across the firm.
• Provide specialist advice and practical guidance to navigate complex issues.
• Collaborate with colleagues across teams to manage regulatory matters and privacy reviews.
• Support data breach responses, subject access requests and regulatory notifications.
