Job summary

Birketts LLP in the UK is recruiting an Associate for the Commercial (Data Protection) Team with 3–5 years PQE. You will advise on UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and related privacy and electronics communications law, helping clients draft data protection policies and respond to incidents in a fast‑paced, commercially driven environment.

This hybrid role offers flexible working patterns within a well‑regarded firm.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years PQE in data protection or privacy law.
• Strong legal and commercial judgement with drafting ability.
• Experience advising on DPAs, data transfers and governance.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert UK/EU data protection advice across industries.
• Draft/ negotiate data processing agreements and transfer mechanisms.
• Lead Subject Access Requests, data breaches and privacy incidents.
• Deliver PIAs/DPIAs, audits and risk assessments.
• Run privacy trainings and awareness campaigns for clients.
• Support cross-border data protection matters where relevant.
• Build client relationships and contribute to business development.
