Job description

We are recruiting for a Paralegal to join our Document Review and Collation team in Bristol or Manchester. The DRC team is a recognised centre of excellence within TLT and a recognised leader in optimised managed legal services, operating as a seamless extension of both TLT and client legal teams to drive efficiency, quality and value. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, the team is trusted to deliver with distinction, underpinned by leading-edge technology, streamlined processes and advanced resourcing strategies. We are looking for a candidate with exposure to, or experience of, Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), who is eager to develop and deepen their expertise in this specialist area. You will play an important role in the delivery of high-quality legal services in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment, working alongside experienced colleagues to manage and progress DSAR projects from scoping through to production. Your Role

  • Undertaking first-level reviews of Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) to a high standard, with close attention to detail, accuracy and speed, including the application of redactions and exemptions under data protection legislation.
  • Supporting lead reviewers on DSAR matters, assisting with the scoping of requests, the day-to-day review process and the preparation of final responses.
  • Analysing new DSAR instructions received into the team and taking detailed instructions from fee earners.
  • Using e-disclosure platforms such as Relativity to conduct document reviews and e-disclosure exercises.
  • Communicating with client teams and external clients as required, ensuring that instructions are sought, followed and clearly documented throughout the lifecycle of a matter.
  • Reporting regularly on the progression of ongoing matters, ensuring deadlines are met and workloads are effectively managed.
  • Working collaboratively as part of the team whilst exercising independent initiative to manage your own workload efficiently. Paralegal experience gained within a document review, data protection or related legal role, with some exposure to Data Subject Access Requests.
  • A working understanding of data protection legislation, including the application of exemptions and the redaction process.
  • Some experience of, or a strong interest in, document review platforms such as Relativity or similar eDiscovery tools; a willingness to develop technical proficiency in this area is essential.
  • Ability to identify privilege and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with good self-management skills and the ability to multitask, prioritise competing demands and work to tight deadlines.
  • Accuracy, good organisational skills and the flexibility to adapt across a varied and changing workload.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and a genuine enthusiasm for developing expertise in data protection and document review work. This is a hybrid role with 50% office attendance expected, sitting within our Document Review and Collation team. The role offers broad exposure to a wide range of document review and collation workstreams, making it an ideal position for a paralegal looking to build and develop their experience in a dynamic, high-quality legal services environment. You will benefit from structured on-the-job training, access to industry-leading technology platforms, and the opportunity to work alongside experienced legal professionals across a variety of practice areas.

This is a role where no two days are the same, and where you will have the opportunity to make a genuine contribution to the delivery of legal services at scale.

Your Team You will be joining our Document Review and Collation (DRC) team, an integral part of TLT's Future Law offering. The DRC team provides multi-disciplinary expertise and scalable legal resources to support TLT's legal groups in the delivery of large-scale projects and Future Law services for our clients. The team brings together a talented mix of paralegals and both qualified and non-qualified legal professionals, working collaboratively to support contentious and non-contentious fee earners from across the firm on a broad and varied range of matters. It is a fast-paced, collegiate environment where you will have the opportunity to make a real contribution to the delivery of high-quality legal services.
