Job summary

Vanquis is seeking an experienced Data Engineering Manager to lead data engineering leaders and squads, shaping Snowflake platform governance and engineering standards.

You'll drive Data Vault 2.0 modelling, cost governance, access controls and resilience, while building an inclusive, high-performance engineering culture across distributed teams.

This role combines technical authority with people leadership to ensure value delivery and regulatory readiness across the data platform.

Qualifications

• Significant data engineering experience, incl. leading engineers or senior contributors.
• Deep experience of Snowflake at scale, incl. platform architecture, access controls, operations and cost governance
• Strong practical knowledge of Data Vault 2.0, with experience setting or owning modelling standards
• Experience using Coalesce, dbt or another metadata-driven transformation platform
• Experience leading, developing and building engineering capability, including recruitment, performance and succession
• An understanding of engineering within a regulated, controlled or similarly complex environment
• Experience managing complex delivery across multiple teams, dependencies and stakeholders
• The ability to communicate technical subjects clearly and influence senior technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience working with third-party partners and geographically distributed teams

Responsibilities

• Lead, support and develop Data Engineering leaders and their squads
• Own and evolve our Data Vault 2.0 modelling approach and wider engineering standards
• Strengthen platform controls across data access, masking, classification and environment management
• Oversee portfolio planning, dependencies, risks and service handovers across internal teams and delivery partners
• Champion automation, CI/CD and streamlined engineering practices
