Job summary

Depop is hiring a Data Engineer to work on the Data Platform. The role focuses on Kafka and streaming infrastructure, bronze/silver data layers, and event tracking to support low-latency data for ML and insights.

You will collaborate with Data Infrastructure and Analytics Engineering, writing clear docs and balancing latency, completeness, cost, and freshness while helping onboard new events.

Qualifications

• Experience building production data pipelines using streaming systems.
• Proficiency in at least one of Scala, Kotlin or Python.
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and data quality.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain services in Kafka Connect and streaming pipeline.
• Extend bronze streaming layer across table catalog.
• Implement data contracts and freshness checks; build quarantine/alerting.
• Partake in support rotation and onboard events for streaming.
