Job summary

SR2 REC LTD in London is seeking a senior Data Platform Architect with Databricks and AWS expertise to own the technical design of our enterprise data platform. You will collaborate with data engineering, cloud infrastructure and security teams to deliver secure, scalable data solutions while setting engineering standards and guiding projects across the program.

This contract role offers a light hybrid London work setup and requires active SC clearance.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience designing enterprise data platforms on Databricks and AWS.
• Deep knowledge of Lakehouse architectures, Delta Lake and Unity Catalog.
• Strong background in data governance, security and IAM controls.
• Proficiency with Terraform / IaC and CI/CD pipelines.
• Led technical architecture decisions and guided engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and design of enterprise data platforms using Databricks and AWS.
• Define scalable Lakehouse architectures, including Delta Lake and medallion architecture.
• Design secure cloud infrastructure and data integration patterns.
• Implement data governance and access controls using Unity Catalog.
• Establish architecture standards and reusable engineering patterns.
• Support batch processing, streaming and data integration requirements.
• Define infrastructure and deployment approaches using Terraform and CI/CD.
• Ensure platform security, performance, reliability and cost efficiency.
• Review technical designs and provide architectural guidance to engineering teams.
• Work with stakeholders to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.

Data Platform Architect - Databricks / AWS - Contract

Location: Light Hybrid - London

Day Rate: £600 - £625 p/d

We're looking for an experienced Data Platform Architect with strong expertise in Databricks and AWS to support the design and delivery of a modern enterprise data platform.

This is a senior, hands-on architecture role where you'll take ownership of technical design, establish engineering standards and help deliver secure, scalable cloud-based data solutions.

You'll work closely with data engineering, cloud infrastructure and security teams to shape the platform's architecture and support its implementation.

About You

You’ll be an experienced Data Platform Architect, Databricks Architect or Cloud Data Architect who has successfully designed and delivered enterprise-scale data platforms.

We’re particularly interested in candidates who can combine strong Databricks architecture expertise with hands‑on AWS knowledge, while providing technical direction across complex engineering programmes.

You’ll be comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, making architectural decisions and ensuring solutions are secure, scalable and maintainable.
