Job summary

HSBC seeks a Data Modeller to enhance the Group Business Glossary, taxonomy, and ontologies, enabling consistent data understanding across teams and AI-driven decision making.

You will contribute modelling standards, governance, and metadata practices to keep content high quality and reusable across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience in business glossary curation, taxonomy design, and/or ontology modelling, enabling AI and data interoperability.
• Ability to explain semantic modelling concepts clearly.
• AI-assisted development is welcomed.

Job description

As a Data Modeller, you will support the Group ownership operating model by enabling a framework where the business owns the terms, while you provide the modelling expertise, standards, and governance to keep content high quality and reusable.

What you'll work on

• Drive high-quality content within the HSBC Business Information Model (HBIM), with a focus on the Group Business Glossary, Taxonomy of Business Terms, and Group Data Categories (high-level groupings of terms)
• Build high-quality glossaries, taxonomies and ontologies that create a shared semantic layer - so our data can be understood consistently and used by AI to answer questions across teams, faster and with more confidence

What you'll bring

• Is useful but not essential (tooling matters less than the modelling fundamentals)
• Demonstrable experience in business glossary curation, taxonomy design, and/or ontology modelling, with a clear understanding of how these enable AI and data interoperability
• With modelling and metadata practices; Collibra
• , with the ability to explain semantic modelling concepts clearly
• (AI-assisted development is welcomed)
