Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Analyse business requirements and translate them into data models aligned with goals.
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries and glossaries for data elements.
  • Monitor data usage to identify opportunities for data optimisation with the DBA.
  • Define strategic architecture and select appropriate products.
  • Produce logical designs showing processes, data flows, inputs, and outputs.
  • Identify and resolve design-related issues and maintain data architecture standards.

Join us as a Senior Data Modeller, where you will define and deliver enterprise data models and architecture standards, enabling high-quality, scalable data solutions that support business outcomes and strategic decision-making.
To be successful as a Senior Data Modeller, you should have:

  • Extensive experience in Conceptual, Logical, and Physical Data Modelling within complex enterprise environments.
  • Advanced SQL skills with experience in data profiling, quality assurance, and data transformation.
  • Deep understanding of data lineage, ETL processes, and end-to-end data flows.
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into scalable data models and architecture.
Highly Valued Skills May Include
  • Experience with cloud data platforms, preferably AWS.
  • Knowledge of Medallion Architecture, Data Governance, and Metadata Management.
  • Strong stakeholder management and requirements gathering skills.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments.

This role will be based in Glasgow, Northampton or London.
Purpose of the role
To design, implement, and maintain conceptual, Logical and Physical data models that meet business data/process and technology requirements, by using designs and data strategies across a wide selection of platforms.
Accountabilities
  • Analysis and documentation of business requirements to translate them into data models aligned with organisational goals.
  • Development and maintenance of data dictionaries and glossaries to define data elements and their usage.
  • Analysis and monitoring of data usage patterns to identify opportunities for data optimisation and improvement, in partnership with the Data Base Administrator.
  • Strategic architecture definition and product selection.
  • Production of logical designs in relevant subject area (technical, data, operational), showing for example: processes, objects, data flows, inputs, stored data and outputs. Identifying common components.
  • Implementation of architectures and Identification, ownership and resolution of design related issues.
  • Definition and documentation of data architectures standards, principles and strategies.

  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross functional areas of impact and alignment.

  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem solving processes.
  • Seek out, build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.
