Job Title: Data Migration Engineer

Job Description

Our consultancy client are looking for a Data Migration Engineer to work with one of their end clients on one of their largest programmes, aimed at supporting their digital policing vision. As a Data Migration Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining and modernising the application landscape, refreshing legacy applications, and delivering upgrades that enhance digital service performance. Your work will help optimise management processes, boost innovation, and enable officers to deliver efficient and cost-effective services.

Responsibilities

• Define Physical Data Models and input into their development.
• Design and deliver data mapping rules detailing the transformation from source to target.
• Develop and build ETL routines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and Databricks.
• Conduct code reviews of colleagues' ETL routines.
• Engage with clients to gather requirements and deliver the data management solution.
• Estimate the effort required to deliver the data management solution.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in developing data transformation code using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Python, and Pyspark.
• In-depth knowledge of data warehouse designs, including slowly changing dimensions.
• Experience with relational and database technologies such as Oracle and SQL Server.
• Strong analytical skills and a logical approach to problem-solving.
• Excellent organisational and coordination skills.
• Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
• Understanding of data quality and data profiling tools.
• Knowledge of Master Data Management theory and applications.
• Experience with at least one BI tool.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in data governance, data quality, data analysis, and data management.
• Proven track record in migration projects.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
