Job summary

Sadler Recruitment Ltd in Cardiff is seeking a strong lead/senior engineer with a data focus to move into an architectural and line-management role. You will steer integrations and data movement between systems, partners and regulators, mentoring a small team while staying close to the code.

The role targets an event-driven, cloud-based architecture with AWS as the primary platform and opportunities to grow and certify in AWS. Typically 1 day per week on site in Cardiff.

Qualifications

• Experience with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2) and data modelling.
• Proficient in at least one modern programming language.
• Experience in integration or ETL and data warehouse projects.
• Strong technical leadership and mentoring capabilities.
• Ability to guide developers and own technical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a 3-4 person integration/data team.
• Design and roll out standard integration patterns.
• Build integrations using AWS EventBridge, Lambda and Step Functions.
• Collaborate with architects and multiple dev teams to ensure consistent approaches.
• Contribute data warehouse enhancements for clean, unified data.
• Balance modernisation with reliability in a high-visibility environment.
