Job summary

Neem Consulting is recruiting on behalf of a Stoke-on-Trent client to establish enterprise-wide data governance. The role reports to the Head of Data and Information Security and focuses on defining governance, ownership, and data quality across the organisation.

You will build governance structures, drive compliance with GDPR, and partner with business and technology leaders to embed data as a strategic asset. Hybrid working with in-office presence is required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience establishing or leading data governance frameworks within large organisations.
• Strong understanding of data governance principles, operating models and industry best practices.
• Experience implementing data ownership, stewardship and accountability frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of data quality management and data lifecycle management.
• Experience working with GDPR and wider data protection requirements.
• Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills.
• Experience working across both business and technology functions.
• Strong governance, risk management and policy development experience.
• Ability to operate effectively in complex and evolving organisational environments.

Responsibilities

• Define, implement and embed the organisation's data governance framework.
• Lead governance forums, steering groups and decision-making.
• Establish ownership and stewardship models across business functions.
• Drive data quality improvements and monitoring processes.
• Ensure GDPR compliance and data protection obligations.
• Engage with Legal, Risk, Audit and Technology teams to manage data risks.
• Provide guidance on governance, stewardship and data management best practices.
• Lead capability development and act as ambassador for data governance.
