Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience in a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, Compliance Analyst or similar role.
• Strong SQL skills and dbt experience or a strong aptitude to learn modern transformation tooling quickly.
• Familiarity with data governance and regulatory topics (e.g. Consumer Duty, CASS, KYC/AML, GDPR, Market Abuse Regulation, data retention) is desirable.
• Engineering mindset — habit of automating, simplifying, or redesigning a manual process.
• Experience or strong interest in using AI tools to enhance analytical workflows.
• Comfortable with version control (git) and modern engineering practices.
• Experience with modern BI tools (e.g. Metabase, Lightdash, Omni, Looker).
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Clear written and verbal communication with non-technical stakeholders.
• Confidence to challenge status quo and propose alternatives, backed by data.
• Experience in fintech or financial services is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Governance & Compliance: design data governance framework, ownership, definitions, lineage, retention policies.
• Translate regulatory requirements into concrete data controls, monitoring and reporting.
• Maintain analytics glossary, data catalog and semantic layer for auditable metrics.
• Support internal and external audit requests with reproducible analysis.
• Modern Analytics & Automation: build data transformations/models using SQL and dbt with version control.
• Automate recurring reports, reconciliations and alerts to strengthen controls.
• Use AI-enabled tools responsibly to accelerate analysis, coding, QA and documentation.
• Contribute to engineering practices for analytics: git, code review, CI/CD where relevant.
• Ways of Working & Continuous Improvement: automate and simplify; propose new tools or structures.
• Bring an engineering-influenced approach: reusable, testable, version-controlled analytics.
• Reporting & Dashboards: build and maintain dashboards/reports with BI tools; ensure metrics are defined and consistent.
• Support broader analytics team with ad hoc analysis as the role expands.
• Data Quality & Documentation: ensure data accuracy and quality; document definitions.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: understand requirements; communicate insights clearly; support decision-making with data.
