Data Governance Analyst

I am recruiting for a financial services client who is looking to hire a Data Governance Analyst to join their data team. The primary objective is to develop an understanding of business data processed and stored within information systems, introduce Data Governance, and promote best practices for Data Management.

This individual will assist with the execution of data strategy, including the implementation of a Data Catalogue and Data Governance policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and support in creating policies and procedures for data governance in a regulated environment.
• Maintain the content of the Data Catalogue, including Business Glossary, Data Lineage, and Data Governance.
• Communicate with business stakeholders regarding the objectives of the Data Strategy and the roles and responsibilities related to Data Governance.
• Support the Data Governance process by coordinating and facilitating meetings and documenting outcomes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business processes and projects.
• Stay informed about advances in data-related technologies and techniques.
• Report and investigate root causes of data-related issues.
• Assist in defining Data Quality methodologies and standards.
• Demonstrate strong analytical skills, curiosity, and attention to detail.
• Experience with data catalogues and lineage tools is advantageous.
• Proficiency in SQL, data modelling, and database design is advantageous.
• Exhibit excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience as a Business Analyst and/or Data Analyst in a financial or banking institution is preferred.

This is a permanent role based in London, with a hybrid working arrangement (three days in the office and a few days remote per week). The salary range is £50,000 - £60,000, plus benefits such as private medical, discretionary bonus, and pension.
