Job summary

Ex-Mil Recruitment Limited is seeking a Structured Cabling Engineer to install, test and maintain copper and fibre-optic cabling across Kent and the South East. The role involves working within commercial, industrial and data centre environments and may include surveys and project coordination.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with copper/fibre cabling, CSCS/ECS, IPAF/PASMA, a full UK driving licence and strong customer-facing communication.

Qualifications

• Previous technical experience with copper and fibre-optic installations.
• Knowledge of structured cabling systems and installation practices.
• CSCS or ECS site card.
• IPA/PASMA training.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
• Good communication and customer-facing skills.
• Willingness to travel across Kent and the South East England with overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate and test Cat6, Cat6a and fibre cabling.
• Install internal and external copper and fibre cabling infrastructure.
• Install cable containment systems including conduit, trunking, trays and baskets.
• Fault-finding, diagnostics and rectification of structured cabling systems.
• Install wireless access points and UPS units.
• Ensure installations meet technical, quality and safety standards.
• Complete accurate installation records, testing documentation and project reports.
• Liaise with customers and other contractors on site.
• Support project delivery and occasional travelling or overnight stays.
