University College London (UCL) in London is seeking a Software Engineer (Data) to join a cross‑functional agile team responsible for developing and supporting data products, platforms and services for teaching, research and professional services.

You will work on designing, developing and maintaining modern data platforms and pipelines, applying engineering best practices throughout the SDLC while driving automation, quality, security and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and maintaining data pipelines, integrations and data services.
• Experience working in cross-functional, agile teams.
• Familiarity with SDLC, CI/CD and monitoring practices.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, development and maintenance of data pipelines and data services.
• Participate in agile ceremonies including refinement, estimation, prioritisation and retrospectives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver data products and services.
• Apply software development lifecycle (SDLC) principles including build, test, deployment and operational support.
• Implement automation, testing and monitoring throughout the data development lifecycle.
• Ensure solutions meet security, governance, performance and reliability requirements.
• Support CI/CD practices.
• Follow engineering best practice and share knowledge with colleagues.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation.
• Explore emerging technologies to improve outcomes.
