Job summary

Burberry in London seeks a Data Engineer to underpin reporting and analytics with governed data products. You will work in cross-functional squads alongside Data Product Managers, Data Platform Engineers and BI teams to drive end-to-end data asset delivery from ingestion to business-ready layers.

The role requires strong Python, SQL and Spark skills, experience with Databricks, and a commitment to data governance and quality.

Qualifications

• Experience building data models and transformation layers in a modern cloud environment.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL and Spark with ETL/ELT experience.
• Solid understanding of data governance and metadata alignment.

Responsibilities

• Design and build data models and transformation logic across domains (Customer, Product, Order, Sale, Supply Chain).
• Manage the engineering layer between ingestion and reporting to ensure enterprise-ready data.
• Collaborate with Data and Solution Architects to align with enterprise data models.
• Work with Data Platform Engineers to ingest data from the enterprise platform (Databricks).
• Provide governed data products to Visualisation & Reporting teams with clear data definitions.
• Embed quality controls, validation and monitoring into the transformation layer.
• Maintain documentation of business rules, data lineage and transformations.
• Support internal ownership by establishing in-house engineering standards.
• Operate within squad-based delivery and translate business requirements into technical outputs.
• Define interfaces and contracts between data outputs and reporting layers.
