Job summary

Experis IT in Telford is seeking a Data Engineer for a contract role running until 14 April 2027. Hybrid work with 2 days onsite, offering up to £500.48 per day Umbrella inside IR35. Active SC clearance is desirable as part of the role.

The candidate will primarily work on Talend and Oracle RDS, building ETL artefacts, reviewing peers’ work, and supporting QA, testing and production promotions. Strong ETL tooling experience is essential.

• Experience with ETL tooling (Talend preferred).
• Experience with Oracle RDS databases.
• Active SC Clearance desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop Talend jobs, Oracle DDL and SQL, and GitLab Pipeline enhancements.
• Investigate and resolve defects/issues raised during testing phases.
• Review colleagues' development and test artefacts.
• Support Production promotion and warranty support.
• Conduct component testing and test data creation.
• Support QA in testing phases and debugging issues.
• Create and execute test packs for component test automation.
• Support performance testing phase.
• Provide guidance to colleagues and mentor junior engineers.
• Report to Lead engineer and participate in scrum discussions.

Role Title: Data Engineer

Role purpose/summary

Demand on the in the ITEC programme area has increased dramatically necessitating developers to support the build activities for MCF Deletion and Retention project.

This developer role will be primarily working on Talend and Oracle RDS systems, within our existing Talend framework and patterns. Experience of ETL tooling will be needed, preferably Talend but Pentaho/Informatica experience will be transferable. Experience working in Oracle RDS databases will also be required.

You will

• Develop project artefacts including (but not limited to) Talend jobs, Oracle DDL and SQL, GitLab Pipeline enhancements
• Investigate and resolve any defects/issues raised during testing phases.
• Review colleagues development and test artefacts.
• Support for Production promotion and 'warranty' support
• Conduct Component Testing of developed artefacts (including test data creation)
• Support QAs in conducting test phases and debugging issues identified throughout the development life cycle
• Create and execute test packs for Component Test automation
• Support Performance Testing phase
• Provide support and guidance to colleagues and mentor junior engineers
• Reporting to Lead engineer and any scrum-of-scrum discussions

Required Skills
