Job summary

Halfords is seeking a Data Engineer to join our Data & Analytics team and help build scalable data pipelines that power reporting and decision making. You’ll work with Azure-based tools and modern cloud technologies to ensure high-quality data is available across the business.

You’ll design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, automate processes, and collaborate with architects and stakeholders to deliver robust data solutions at scale.

Qualifications

• Experience building data pipelines in a modern cloud data environment.
• Strong hands-on experience with data integration and transformation.
• Solid understanding of data modelling and data architecture principles.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain data pipelines and integrations that connect operational systems to analytics and reporting platforms
• Develop, test, and optimise ETL processes using modern cloud-based technologies and engineering best practices
• Transform manual and time-consuming reporting processes into scalable, automated data solutions
• Produce and maintain clear documentation, including source-to-target mappings, data lineage, and technical specifications
• Support the development of reusable datasets and BI-ready data products that enable trusted and consistent reporting
• Investigate data issues, performance bottlenecks, and data quality concerns, implementing improvements and preventative measures
• Work collaboratively with architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure solutions meet both technical and business requirements
