SSE plc is hiring a Data Engineer to design, build and optimise ELT/ETL pipelines on Azure Databricks, modelling data with Delta Lake across bronze/silver/gold layers and enabling BI insights via Power BI. You’ll work within the Data & AI team to migrate solutions and implement governance, security and data contracts.

The role is hands-on, collaborative, and based in the UK with flexible first options and a hybrid working pattern across Reading, Perth or Glasgow.

Qualificações

• Experience delivering data solutions in a growing business with varied data needs.
• Ability to manage and prioritise workload effectively.
• Strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven data engineering experience with Azure Databricks and Delta Lake.
• Experience building metadata-driven pipelines and BI data models.

Responsabilidades

• Build and maintain metadata-driven pipelines using Azure Databricks for batch and streaming data.
• Develop Delta Lake layers (bronze/silver/gold) and BI data models for analytics and Power BI integration.
• Use PySpark and SQL for large-scale transformations and data quality improvements.
• Support governance, security, and data contracts through Unity Catalog lineage and access controls.
• Collaborate with DevOps and product teams to implement CI/CD and evolving tooling.
