Job summary

SSE plc is seeking a Data Engineer in Reading to design, develop and optimise data ingestion, transformation and serving layers across Azure Databricks, Delta Lake and Databricks SQL. You will build robust ELT/ETL pipelines, model data for performance and analytics, and ensure data quality and security aligned with business needs.

Working within the Data & AI team, you will migrate existing solutions from Synapse, contribute to the Renewables Data Platform, and collaborate with data architects,

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain metadata-driven pipelines in Azure Databricks.
• Develop Delta Lake layers (bronze/silver/gold) for BI-ready data models.
• Apply Python, PySpark and SQL for transformations and quality checks.
• Collaborate with DevOps and product teams to deliver CI/CD pipelines.
• Support governance, security, and data contracts.
