Job summary

QA Limited offers an apprenticeship in data engineering within the Data Engineering team. You will learn to deliver data pipelines on client datasets and work closely with client services, data engineers, analysts and delivery managers to support data products and analytics.

The programme develops problem solving, communication, and a growth mindset, with hands-on training in Python, SQL, Azure, Databricks and ETL/ELT tools across diverse data sources.

Qualifications

  • Must have Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
  • Two A levels in one or more similar subject or Level 3 apprenticeship or IB or BTEC option.
  • Experience with programming languages (such as Python) or 2-3 years in a related role.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to deliver data engineering pipelines on client data and data services for reporting and analytics.
  • Collaborate with client services, data engineers, business analysts, delivery managers and data analysts/scientists.
  • Build and configure data ingestion methods from APIs, files, streaming, and public sources.
  • Assist in creating data products for marketing, reporting and AI use cases.

About the role:

Working within the Data Engineering team you will learn how to deliver data engineering and pipelines on a range of complex client datasets, working closely with client services, data engineers, business analysts, delivery managers and data analysts/scientists.

What will you learn:
  • How to create and deliver data engineering pipelines on a range of client data and data services to support client data products and marketing for reporting and analytics
  • How to understand client’s needs, and how to best implement that with our available technology solutions
  • How to work with a range of data sources such as CRM, sales, real-time and unstructured data
  • Python or C# and a range of associated libraries for data processing and manipulation
  • SQL and no SQL database technologies e.g. Azure SQL or SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, MySQL, Cosmos DB or Mongo DB
  • Databricks and Azure DevOps
  • ELT/ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory and Databricks
  • Over time you will help to build and configure data ingestion methods from APIs, flat files, streaming, public data sources and survey data
  • Over time you will help to collation and extraction of data to create data products for marketing, reporting and AI business use cases

Entry requirements for this programme are as follows:
  • A Level 3 qualification in a relevant area in any grade.
    Acceptable qualifications include, any of:
  • Two A levels in one or more similar subject*
  • Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject
  • International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in a similar subject
  • BTEC Extended Diploma in a similar subject
  • Experience with programming languages (such as Python)
    OR equivalent work experience: 2-3 years in a similar subject-related role.

*'Similar subject' relates to areas directly relevant to or commensurate with 'Digital and Technology Solutions'. Typically this would be areas such as but not limited to Level 3 digital apprenticeships, A-Level/BTEC Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, Software Engineering, etc.

Please note:

Learners must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level than this apprenticeship in a similar subject.

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am - 5:30pm
