Job summary

Bloomsbury Publishing Plc is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join the AI & Innovation team in London. You will design, build and maintain the data platforms and pipelines that underpin insights, forecasting, licensing and other strategic projects.

You will work closely with data scientists, technology, legal and publishing teams to ensure trusted, well-modelled data is accessible across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience building and supporting production data pipelines.
• Strong SQL and Python skills.
• Experience with cloud-based data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift or Databricks).
• Knowledge of data orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster or dbt.
• Ability to ingest data from APIs and diverse sources with attention to detail.
• Understanding of version control and automated deployment best practices.
• Excellent communication with stakeholders across the business.
• Experience in publishing, media or content industries is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain Bloomsbury's Single Source of Truth.
• Lead migration and consolidation of data into BigQuery and retire legacy systems.
• Develop and manage production data pipelines from internal systems and third parties.
• Implement data quality checks, monitoring and lineage processes.
• Provide data foundations for AI initiatives including forecasting and licensing.
• Model, reconcile and standardise publishing data including metadata and rights information.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists to productionise analytical models.
• Apply governance, security and access controls with Technology and Legal teams.
• Document systems and pipelines to ensure maintainability.
