Job summary

McGregor Boyall is seeking an experienced Data Engineer for a 3-month contract in the Financial Services sector, with multiple delivery locations including Manchester. The role focuses on building scalable data pipelines and knowledge solutions to support an Enterprise Knowledge Base (EKB).

You will ingest, enrich, index and transform enterprise data into searchable, governed formats and AI-ready outputs, leveraging Python, SQL and modern cloud platforms.

Qualifications

Location: Bristol, Leeds, Manchester or Edinburgh

Duration: 3 months initially (likely extension)

Rate: Up to £800 p/d inside IR35 (via umbrella)

The Role

Major Financial Services organisation looking for an experienced Data Engineer to build scalable data pipelines and knowledge solutions supporting an Enterprise Knowledge Base (EKB).

You'll work across data ingestion, enrichment, indexing and knowledge graphs, transforming enterprise data into searchable, governed and AI-consumable formats.

Key Responsibilities

• Build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and SQL


• Work with BigQuery, Google Spanner, Neo4j and Vector Databases


• Design and implement Knowledge Graphs


• Develop enterprise search, indexing and retrieval capabilities


• Build data models, metadata and enrichment processes


• Implement event-driven and real-time data architectures


• Ensure data quality, governance, lineage and traceability


• Optimise platform performance and scalability

Key Requirements

• Strong Python and SQL


• Experience with BigQuery, Spanner and/or similar cloud data platforms


• Hands-on Neo4j / Knowledge Graph experience
