Job summary

Durham County Council is seeking an outstanding Leadership Advisor to work within Education Durham, providing strategic input and practical support to enhance provision across schools and settings.

The role is fixed-term (1 January 2027 to 31 August 2028). You will challenge schools on their capacity to improve, review performance data, and help set ambitious but realistic targets for the coming year, with opportunities for hybrid working where applicable.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree and Qualified Teacher Status.
• Proven leadership in a school or academy setting plus experience managing and implementing change.
• Ability to provide challenge and strategic input to improve outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Challenge schools on capacity to improve outcomes and attainment.
• Review school self-evaluation and improvement plans against evidence.
• Analyse performance data and identify trends to inform targets.
• Discuss targets and priorities for the coming year.
