Role Overview

Join us as a Data Centre Technician at Barclays, where you'll effectively monitor and maintain the bank’s critical technology infrastructure and resolve complex technical issues, minimizing disruption to operations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Monitor and support hardware platforms, IT infrastructure, and interdependencies such as Storage, SAN, Unix, Wintel, and networking technologies.
  2. Troubleshoot and repair hardware issues at the server level.
  3. Manage changes and incidents, supporting software tools in a support environment.
  4. Perform cabling and physical maintenance within data centres.
  5. Execute preventative maintenance and utilize monitoring tools to optimize performance.
  6. Maintain detailed documentation and knowledge bases for future reference.
  7. Analyze logs and error messages to identify root causes and resolve issues.
  8. Implement automation, enhance monitoring, and manage capacity and resiliency.
  9. Identify and address potential risks and issues proactively.
  10. Collaborate with teams, provide technical advice, and manage stakeholder relationships.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience with hardware troubleshooting, change management, and cabling in data centres.
  • Valued skills include ITIL Foundation or higher, CompTIA Server+, and 24/7 shift work experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
