Job summary

3D Personnel are representing a leading European data centre delivery specialist recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team on a major data centre project in Blyth.

This role offers an early-career QS the chance to build experience in cost management, subcontract packages, valuations and the wider commercial cycle, from procurement through to close-out, alongside a seasoned team on a high-profile project.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline.
• 2-5 years' QS experience in a construction environment.
• Genuine interest in developing a career in commercial management.
• Good understanding of construction processes and terminology.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisation.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• A team player.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• CostX, Buildsoft or similar software is an advantage but not essential.
• Data centre or main contractor experience is an advantage but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support Senior QS in managing subcontract packages.
• Assist with tender documentation, work packages, budgets and procurement.
• Analyse and review subcontractor tender returns.
• Prepare and administer subcontractor documentation.
• Assist with monthly valuations, payments and cost reporting.
• Help prepare and assess variations, claims and other commercial matters.
• Monitor project costs and maintain accurate commercial records.
• Contribute to cost/value reconciliations and cash flow reports.
• Support the preparation and agreement of external valuations.
• Assist with subcontractor final accounts and commercial close-out.
• Liaise with subcontractors, clients, designers and internal project teams.
• Ensure commercial documentation is accurate and on time.
• Identify potential commercial issues and elevate them.
• Work closely with the wider project team to support successful delivery.
