Job Description
Overall purpose of the job:
- Build, utilize, maintain, and deploy custom DCIM software to ensure 100% adoption and accuracy across all Exponential-e client Data Centres.
- Track quality control of Racks, PDU’s, Tap Off’s, Patch Panels, Equipment, and associated patching, following established standards aligned with customer requirements and DCIM guidelines.
- Create, review, and update documentation related to installation and operational procedures to support Data Centre deployment and maintenance activities.
Key responsibilities:
- Install, patch, and configure bespoke environments with various hardware from multiple vendors.
- Use internal ticketing systems to troubleshoot, resolve faults, and replace components within managed hardware services.
- Configure and load balance Intelligent PDUs for power monitoring.
- Troubleshoot LAN connectivity issues and assist internal teams with remote access solutions.
- Identify faults in structured cabling and coordinate repairs with cabling teams.
- Ensure full deployment and accuracy of custom DCIM software in all Data Centres.
- Collaborate with departments to improve procedures and share knowledge.
- Produce reports on capacity and monitor power and cabling to support expansion.
- Follow change control procedures for critical environment modifications.
- Maintain compliance with third-party Data Centre policies and standards.
- Conduct hardware and cabling audits to ensure system accuracy.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
- Maintain professionalism and adhere to ISO standards and ITIL best practices.
- Manage access and tickets for visitors and third-party technicians.
- Monitor ticketing systems to ensure prompt responses within SLAs.
- Keep Data Centres clean and organized.
Knowledge and experience required:
- At least 3 years in Managed Hosting or Data Centre environments.
- Proficient in server, storage, and network deployment and support.
- Basic understanding of Data Centre M&E Design, Power, Cooling, Redundancy.
- Experience deploying hardware from recognized manufacturers in complex environments.
- Familiar with IT hardware concepts such as RAID, SAN, SCSI, FC, ethernet, iLO.
- Organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently and in teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and email software.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Capable of working under pressure with attention to detail.
- Enthusiastic about delivering excellent service.
- Willing to participate in a 24/7 on-call rota.
- Valid UK Driving License and personal vehicle required.
- Willingness to travel; expenses covered by the company.
