Purpose of Job

To control and implement deliverables against all allocated Customer Specific Service Level/KPI Agreements. To contribute to the development and successful operation of the Managed Services function, working with colleagues to develop and implement departmental strategy, objectives, and improvement processes.

The operational requirements for customer sites include working as part of a 24/7 shift team on a rota basis, with availability to cover shifts for colleagues where possible.

The DCS Shift Technician is responsible for liaising with the DCS Shift Leader to ensure timely delivery of requests. It is also their responsibility to maintain close communication with the customer and promote a positive image of the company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to rules and regulations concerning Buildings and Communications rooms.
  • Ensure all work is completed to the expected standards.
  • Liaise with the customer and promote a positive company image.
  • Notify the shift leader or DCS Infrastructure Manager of any issues affecting service delivery.
  • Escalate issues promptly to the appropriate management.
  • Report absences or lateness as per company procedures.
  • Meet health and safety requirements and escalate incidents.
  • Wear the correct uniform and notify support teams of additional requirements.
  • Request annual leave within the proper timeframes.
  • Complete and submit timesheets and overtime requests on time.
  • Check and action emails and job queues regularly.
  • Complete toolbox talks monthly.
  • Ensure TCMs and e-permits are in place with relevant approvals.
  • Maintain cleanliness of workshop and storerooms, update stock spreadsheets.
  • Report hardware discrepancies within data racks.
  • Survey Service Now requests and ensure infrastructure and cable management are correct.
  • Monitor site workflows such as Service Now and ITA.
  • Inform requesters of installation delays.
  • Monitor site tools and programs like e-permit, TCM, SCADA, BMS, VESDA, Fireworks.
  • Deal with alarms from monitoring tools promptly and escalate as needed.
  • Monitor the hotline and respond professionally.
  • Maintain cleanliness of plant and communication rooms.
  • Review documentation on SharePoint regularly.
  • Perform hardware tasks such as racking, patching, decommissioning, and installations.
  • Notify stock requirements to the infrastructure manager or line manager.
  • Perform other duties as delegated.
  • Ensure compliance with KPIs and SLAs.
Accountabilities
  • Report directly to the DCS Service Delivery Manager and site management team during shifts.
  • Have no direct reports.
  • No direct budget responsibility but maintain financial awareness for parts and consumables.
