Role Title: Data Center Technical Operations Engineer I

Location: Cardiff, United Kingdom

Type: Contract

Job Description

You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. Your role involves collaborating across teams to ensure safety, security, and cost-effective capacity delivery for our data centers.

This position acts as the on-site maintenance technician and operator for data centers, responsible for operating and maintaining electrical, mechanical, emergency generator, and fire/life safety equipment. You will serve as a technical resource supporting mission-critical server infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment.
2. Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs.
3. Perform maintenance tasks such as filter changes, HVAC preventive maintenance, rack power installations, PDU, and ATS replacements.
4. Support Data Centre Operations technicians.
5. Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures.
6. Follow all safety procedures during work.
7. Take daily operational readings of equipment (temperatures, voltages, currents).
8. Use internal CMMS for workflow management and inventory control.
9. Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance.
10. Respond to emergency calls during on-call shifts.
11. Adhere to physical security policies and procedures.
