Job summary

Formula One is seeking a Data Architect to join a team of software developers and data architects, supporting mission-critical applications for the F1 championship. This maternity cover FTC role focuses on evolving data architecture and driving modernisation across data platforms.

You will collaborate across engineering, product and stakeholders, mentoring peers and contributing to CI/CD improvements, with onsite support during race weekends at Biggin Hill.

Qualifications

• 2+ years designing and delivering data solutions.
• 2+ years applying architecture standards and patterns.
• Experience with master/operational/analytical data stores.
• Experience with distributed data systems and data modelling.
• 2+ years with relational and non-relational databases.
• 2+ years supporting reporting workloads.
• Experience with cloud-native data technologies.
• Experience with Data Orchestration / ETL.
• Understanding data governance and data quality practices.
• Awareness of AI-assisted tooling in data engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evolve data architecture, technology and tooling aligned with software strategy.
• Design and document data architecture solutions and patterns.
• Support delivery of architecture initiatives and roadmap activities.
• Collaborate with software engineers, product owners and stakeholders to align with standards.
• Improve systems through modernization and reduce technical debt.
• Develop expertise across data platforms and the wider software ecosystem.
• Improve development tooling, build pipelines and CI/CD processes.
• Mentor less experienced team members through guidance.
• Provide onsite technical support at Biggin Hill and Trackside on race weekends.
• Lead group engineering activities including design reviews and sprint ceremonies.
