Job summary

A leading recruitment business is seeking a Data Architect/DBA for a large public sector client in London. This role involves leading data strategy implementation, redesigning data architecture, and providing SQL Server DBA support. Ideal candidates will have over 10 years of experience, preferably in financial services, and familiarity with Microsoft Azure tools.

Job description

Morgan Hunt are working with a large public sector client based in central London to recruit a Data architect/DBA.

Details:-

• On-site in London (3 days per week)
• £650 Per Day
• Inside IR35
• 9 month contract

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the definition and implementation of the clients data strategy
• Redesign and assess current data architecture, including the Central Data Store (CDS)
• Evaluate feasibility of migrating to Azure-based Data Lake or Enterprise Data Warehouse
• Design a unified data model and data dictionary
• Oversee Power BI semantic models and reporting governance
• Provide SQL Server DBA support and assist IT Infrastructure with database management
• Support in-house systems and business process improvements

Essential Skills & Experience:

• 10+ years in data architecture and DBA roles, preferably in financial services
• Candidates should be SC Cleared ideally, the DMO may be flexible to put candidates through SC Clearance if they match all other criteria (lived in the UK for the last 10 years)
• Proven experience with Microsoft Azure data tools (Data Factory, Data Lake, Synapse, SQL Managed Instance)
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server, T-SQL, SSIS, and schema modelling
• Familiarity with data modelling tools like Erwin
• Ability to redesign data processes, automate workflows, and produce high-quality documentation
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Desirable:

• Background in investment banking and knowledge of bond/money markets trade processing
• Microsoft certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate or Solutions Architect Expert)
