Job description

Data Architect | Contract | £700-£730 per day | Inside IR35

Milton Keynes / Hybrid (1-2 days per week)

6-month initial contract | ASAP start

We're working with a well-established UK organisation undergoing a significant, multi-year technology modernisation programme, backed by substantial investment and strong support from the leadership team.

The business is moving away from legacy systems and investing heavily in modern architecture, cloud technologies, automation and better use of its data. With the initial discovery phase complete, the programme is now moving into delivery, and we're looking for an experienced Data Architect to help shape the next stage.

This is a genuine opportunity to influence how data is structured, integrated, governed and used across a complex organisation.

What you'll be doing
  • Defining and evolving the organisation's data architecture as part of a wider technology transformation.
  • Assessing existing data platforms, systems and integration patterns, identifying opportunities for modernisation.
  • Designing scalable, secure and well-governed data architectures that support future business requirements.
  • Working closely with enterprise architects, solution architects, delivery teams and external technology partners.
  • Supporting data migration, integration and platform modernisation initiatives.
  • Establishing architectural standards and ensuring solutions align with the organisation's wider technology strategy.
  • Translating complex technical considerations into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.
What we're looking for
  • Proven experience as a Data Architect within large-scale technology or business transformation programmes.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data architecture, data modelling, integration and governance.
  • Experience working across complex legacy environments and modern cloud-based data platforms.
  • A good understanding of Microsoft and Azure data technologies would be advantageous.
  • Comfortable working at both strategic and solution design levels.
  • Experience collaborating with major systems integrators or consulting partners.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to challenge, advise and influence stakeholders.

This isn't a role for someone who wants to work purely in isolation. We're looking for a commercially aware architect who can engage with the business, work collaboratively with delivery partners and help turn architectural strategy into practical outcomes.

Rate: £700-£730 per day (Inside IR35)

Duration: 6 months initially

Location: Milton Keynes, typically 1-2 days per week on site
