Job summary

Somerset Council invites applications for a two-year graduate data analyst role within the Flood Resilience Programme. You will analyse and interpret data to support planning and programme delivery across Somerset, producing insights and reports to inform decisions and improve services.

You will carry out research, maintain records and coordinate activities to support project delivery. The role requires strong analytical and IT skills, effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • A relevant degree (2:2 or higher) obtained within the last 3 years.
  • Strong analytical, technical and IT skills with confidence using data and digital tools.
  • Experience gathering, researching and analysing information to support decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with stakeholders.

Job description

  • Analyse and interpret data to support flood resilience planning and programme delivery across Somerset.
  • Produce data insights, reports and information that help inform decision-making and improve services.
  • Support the delivery of projects by carrying out research, maintaining records and coordinating key activities.
  • Assist with improvements to systems, processes and ways of working to enhance programme effectiveness.
  • Work closely with colleagues, partners and stakeholders to share information and support collaborative working.
  • Use digital tools and technology to provide data and intelligence support across the programme., We offer flexible and hybrid working arrangements to support a healthy work-life balance.
  • This is a two-year fixed-term contract.
  • Professional Development Plan will be provided across the two years; including cohort training sessions around skill development and reflective practice.

    This is an exciting opportunity to join Somerset Council's Flood Resilience Programme Team and gain hands-on experience within a high-profile, multi-agency programme focused on reducing flood risk and building long-term resilience.,
  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification, with a classification of at least 2:2 (obtained within the last 3 years).
  • Strong analytical, technical and IT skills, with the ability to work confidently with data and digital tools.
  • Experience gathering, researching and analysing information to support decision-making.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion principles, and a commitment to safe and professional working practices.
    Salary: Grade 12 - £29,542 per annum, increasing in set increments as per the Graduate Scheme, to a final salary of Grade 11 - £33,673 per annum
  • Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
  • Contract: This is a fixed-term opportunity for a period of two years as part of Somerset Council's Graduate Scheme
