Data Analytics Graduate Programme

Salary: Minimum £35,000. Salary is dependent on location, role and qualifications.

Location: Rosyth, Fife, Scotland

Role ID: 74545

What will you do on the programme?

As a Data Analytics graduate, you won’t just be working with data – you’ll be influencing how we operate and support critical national infrastructure. Your work will help optimise operations, reduce risk, and enhance the performance of vital assets across defence, nuclear, and emergency services.

You’ll explore the full data lifecycle – from sourcing and cleaning datasets to uncovering patterns and presenting insights through clear, compelling visuals. This involves building reports in Power BI, conducting statistical analysis, or creating dashboards that highlight what’s working and where we can improve.

You’ll gain in-depth knowledge of our enterprise systems and contribute to projects that improve how we capture, manage, and use data. Some placements may also involve developing customer-facing applications and data solutions in Palantir Foundry to support smarter, faster decision-making.

With support from mentors and collaboration with experienced colleagues, you’ll quickly build confidence – learning to communicate insights, challenge assumptions, and contribute fresh ideas. You’ll help shape strategy, drive innovation, and improve the way teams work.

How is the programme structured?

This two-year programme is built around a series of rotational placements, each lasting between three and six months. These rotations are designed to give you practical experience across a variety of teams, tools, and challenges – helping you discover where your strengths and interests lie.

By the end of the programme, you’ll have a strong foundation in data analytics, and a clear sense of how your work can drive impact across a complex, data-driven organisation.

How do we develop and support you?

From day one, you’ll receive structured support, personalised training, and dedicated mentorship to help you excel throughout your programme and beyond.

You’ll join our Graduate Development Programme, featuring expert-led masterclasses on communication, personal branding, resilience, and wellbeing.

Alongside this, you’ll have access to online learning resources such as DataCamp and O’Reilly, plus a dedicated mentor to guide your development and support you in working towards professional chartership with bodies like the British Computer Society or the Institute of Mathematics for Data Science, with funding and time provided to help you meet the requirements.

You’ll develop key skills in data visualisation, cloud platforms, agile ways of working, and ethical AI. Depending on your placement, you may also explore areas like Business Analysis and Project Management, as well as using Python to build analytical models that analyse enterprise data and draw meaningful conclusions. There may also be opportunities to boost your learning with courses like Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt, SQL, Python, or Palantir Foundry.

What’s waiting for you after the programme?

Upon completing the programme, you'll transition into a permanent role within Data Analytics with the skills and experience to make a real impact.

From there, your development doesn’t stop. We’ll support you as you grow into more senior roles and take on greater responsibility. Through the Babcock Role Framework, you’ll have a clear view of how your career can progress, with mapped-out pathways, development opportunities and the tools you need to get wherever you want to go.

What rewards and benefits will you get?

We want you to feel supported, valued and excited about what’s ahead. That’s why we offer a comprehensive package designed to support your development, your wellbeing and your life outside of work too.

In addition to a minimum starting salary of £35,000, you’ll benefit from:

  • A minimum of 25 days of holiday plus bank holidays
  • Generous pension and employee share schemes
  • Flexible benefits, including cycle to work scheme, discounts
  • Wellbeing support, covering mental, physical, financial, and social wellbeing, with services like our Employee Assistance Programme, digital GP service, and health checks.

You’ll also have the chance to get involved in our STEM outreach activities and volunteering opportunities.

What do you need to apply?
  • You'll need to have achieved, or be on track to achieve, an (Hons) degree in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Operational Research and/or Computer Science, or Data Science.
  • While not essential, experience with Python – or an interest in developing your Python skills – would be advantageous for some placements within the programme.
  • Many of our programmes are subject to Security Clearance and Trade Control restrictions which mean that your place of birth, nationality, citizenship, or residency you hold or have held may impact which programmes you are eligible for. For this programme, you must be able to achieve and maintain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) clearance. For further details, visit GOV.UK and search ‘United Kingdom Security Vetting: clearance levels’.
Where will you be based?

Places on our Data Analytics programme for September 2027 are available in Rosyth, Scotland.

Our 320-acre Rosyth facility is home to one of the largest and most modern waterside advanced manufacturing and repair facilities in the UK. At Rosyth, we specialise in the design, build and through-life support of complex naval and commercial marine assets – developing innovative solutions for our customers’ projects with our integrated approach.

We offer agile working, giving you some flexibility, but you can expect to spend several days a week on-site as part of your role and development. By your start date, you must be able to reliably commute to the site. This will normally require living within a reasonable commuting distance of Rosyth or relocating before you join us.

Once you’ve successfully completed the programme, you’ll continue your career in the same location, so it’s worth considering this when applying.
