Introducing Data Analytics at Trainline

Data Analytics is central to how we build products, delight our customers, and grow our business. Our Data Analysts are embedded across cross-functional teams within product and marketing. They work closely with Product Managers, Software Engineers, and Commercial teams, and partner directly with Embedded Data Scientists and wider data functions. They have a high degree of autonomy and are empowered to drive the success of their teams by enabling the build-measure-learn cycle.

As a Data Analyst, you will be involved in driving insights into product usage and user behaviors to enable impactful product strategy and feature development. You will create focus and accountability in teams by setting metrics and goals, ensuring continuous learning through experimentation, and feeding insights back into future decision-making. This role requires a strong obsession with driving impact within product teams, utilizing a broad range of analytical and statistical techniques to maximize benefits.

Data Analytics at Trainline exists within the wider data organization as part of the tech org, complemented by Data Science, Machine Learning, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, and Data Product Management. This growing and dynamic team has a significant impact on business outcomes and offers opportunities for growth and development for ambitious Data Analysts.

Responsibilities of a Data Analyst at Trainline
  • Drive ideation and design of new feature releases through deep dives into user behavior.
  • Influence roadmap prioritization through opportunity sizing.
  • Ensure proper data tracking to understand product usage.
  • Support product experiment launches and growth through data-driven decision-making, analyzing experiment results.
  • Define team goals to create incentives and accountability, working towards ambitious objectives.
Qualifications

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • At least 2 years of proven experience using analytics to drive business decisions.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex analysis results to all levels, including senior management.
  • Experience in evaluating product engagement and measuring success, e.g., A/B testing or using front-end data to assess feature effectiveness.
  • Ability to navigate complex and ambiguous datasets to derive clear insights and actionable results.
  • Strong PowerPoint and presentation skills.
  • Strong data visualization skills using tools like Tableau, Spotfire, Power BI, etc.
  • Strong SQL skills.
  • Experience with Python, including predictive modeling, regression techniques, clustering, random forests, etc. (desirable).
