Job summary

Islington Council is seeking a Data Analyst (Early Years and Education) to support Bright Start, Pupil Services and School Improvement. The role is based at N1 1RU with 4 days remote and 1 day in office, offering a temporary contract of 3-6 months with potential extension or permanent appointment for the right candidate.

Good Afternoon,

I am currently representing Islington Council who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience.

We are looking for a Data Analyst (Early Years and Education) this role will be based at: N1 1RU, 4 days remote, 1 day in office.

The right candidate will:

• To contribute to lasting improvements in the quality of services through the provision of high-quality data, professional advisory services, and extensive business intelligence and data services to Bright Start, Pupil Services, and School Improvement, the wider Children & Young People directorate and our partners.
• To support the development of strategic and departmental policy on managing educational performance, through better understanding of the evidence around outcomes, service reach, impact and demographic change.
• To be a responsible lead for education data, and key strategic link for early years and school improvement on data and analysis about the journey of children and young people in Islington through early learning, school and beyond.
• To project plan and deliver the collection and analysis of data required for statutory returns / assessments, including liaison and support for schools and other settings.
• To champion and embed new systems for data collection and analysis, taking a lead role building relationships with school leadership teams and governors to communicate change, plus delivering training and support.
• To design and build business intelligence reports, using reporting tools such as: MS Excel, MS Power BI, SAP Crystal Reports, SQL and GIS mapping software with the support of a large multidisciplinary team, plus opportunities for training and development.

We require the following:

• Experience of monitoring performance improvement across services.
• Experience working on the information requirements of a children’s service, including the regulatory framework for national assessments, standards and accountability; as well as statutory returns.
