The role

NatureMetrics is a global leader in biodiversity monitoring and environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis, transforming how nature can be quantified. Our innovative solutions enable organisations to monitor environmental impact across various sectors, from conservation to industry, supporting sustainability decisions with unprecedented accuracy. We are seeking a Data Analyst to lead analytical initiatives that empower teams to make data-driven decisions. This role involves managing analysis projects from inception to completion, developing clear reports and dashboards, prioritising analytics tasks, and supporting the enhancement of our data tools and infrastructure. Additionally, you will play a key role in elevating data literacy within the company.

This is a hands-on, cross-functional position involving collaboration with commercial, product, scientific, and technical teams to shape data usage across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Leading data analysis: Manage analysis projects from scoping to delivery, supporting various teams including commercial, product, science, operations, and finance.
  2. Managing analytics priorities: Collaborate with teams to understand their data needs, set priorities, and align analytics efforts with business goals.
  3. Building reports and dashboards: Create internal reports and develop dashboards using modern visualization tools to provide timely insights.
  4. Championing data literacy and best practices: Promote data confidence across the organisation by sharing knowledge, offering support, and establishing analysis standards.
  5. Improving data infrastructure: Work with data engineering to develop and maintain structured data pipelines and enhance internal data tools, emphasizing data quality, documentation, and automation.
  6. Collaborating with data science and ML teams: Support exploratory data analysis to validate hypotheses and contribute to the AI and machine learning initiatives.

About you

We seek a curious, collaborative individual interested in understanding business operations and leveraging data for better decisions. You should have:

  • Experience as a data analyst in a commercial setting.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, preferably GCP and BigQuery.
  • Familiarity with visualization tools such as Looker, Metabase, Power BI, or similar.
  • Knowledge of software development practices like version control, testing, and documentation.
  • Understanding of data engineering workflows, including data modeling, orchestration, and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Desirable: familiarity with data science, machine learning workflows, SaaS products, bioinformatics, life sciences, geospatial data, CRM, or ERP systems.
