Job summary

Avara Foods in Brackley is seeking a Data Analyst to join our Data Engineering team on-site from 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday. You’ll design, develop and maintain reliable data models, reports and analytical solutions to support data-driven decisions across the business.

You’ll transform raw data into actionable insights, build dashboards with Power BI, ensure data quality, and automate recurring reports while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Data Analyst or similar data-centric role.
• Strong SQL and BI skills for reporting and data modelling.
• Experience creating dashboards and data models using modern BI tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a methodical approach.
• Solid organisational and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into data analyses and visualisations.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data models and pipelines from multiple sources.
• Build and optimise dashboards and reports using Power BI and Fabric.
• Ensure data accuracy through validation, cleansing and reconciliation.
• Automate recurring reports and data workflows using SQL, Python, and Power Platform tools.
• Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Support business users with ad hoc queries and self-service reporting.
• Document data structures, models, and processes to support knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed on emerging analytics technologies and best practices.

We own and manage our entire supply chain, from farms to factory and all the way to the customer door - meaning we have careers that cover a whole range of functions. We have major processing sites across England and an agricultural network of over 350 farms, spanning from North Yorkshire to the South Coast and Wales.

As a Data Analyst you’ll be working on site Monday to Friday 08:00 - 17:00, joining our Data Engineering team in Brackley.

What will you be doing as a Data Analyst at Avara?

As a Data Analyst your role will enhance business decision-making, operational efficiency, and user productivity by designing, developing, and maintaining reliable data models, reports, and analytical solutions. You will transform raw data into actionable insights, supporting data-driven decisions across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business processes and translate requirements into meaningful data analyses and visualisations.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data models and pipelines to integrate and prepare data from multiple sources for reporting and analysis.
• Build and optimise dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI and Fabric to deliver clear and actionable insights.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness through data validation, cleansing, and reconciliation processes.
• Develop and automate recurring reports and data workflows using SQL, Python, and workflow automation tools (e.g., Power Automate, Logic Apps, OIC).
• Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for business improvement.
• Support business users with ad hoc data queries and self-service reporting solutions.
• Document data structures, models, and analytical processes to maintain transparency and support knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed on emerging technologies and best practices in data analytics, business intelligence, and automation.

Essential

• Proven experience working as a Data Analyst or in a similar data-centric role.
• Strong understanding of business processes and how data supports decision-making.
• Experience developing reports, dashboards, and data models using modern BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Oracle Analytics Cloud, Business Objects).
• Strong SQL skills (Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle Database).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a methodical approach.
• Solid organisational and documentation skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel & Power BI skills.

Desirable

• Microsoft or Oracle data-related certifications.
• BCS Business Analyst or Data Analyst qualification.
• Experience working with middleware or workflow automation tools (e.g., Power Automate, OIC, Azure Logic Apps).
• Experience with the following technologies:
