Job summary

Newham Council is seeking a Data and AI Governance Manager to lead and continually improve our governance frameworks, ensuring data and AI are used lawfully, ethically and securely across the organisation. You will translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into practical processes, support governance boards, and work with service teams to embed risk-based controls.

This fixed-term role is based at Newham Dockside, London, with flexible working and a strong emphasis on training,

Qualifications

• Strong experience in data governance, information governance, AI governance, risk, and compliance.
• Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical governance processes.
• Experience supporting governance boards and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Implement and continually improve the Council's Data and AI Governance Frameworks.
• Establish standards, controls and assurance arrangements for lawful, ethical use of data and AI.
• Support governance boards, training and engagement across the Council.
