Job summary

Michael Page is seeking a Data Governance Manager on a 12-month fixed term contract to lead the development and continual improvement of data governance frameworks and operating model, ensuring data is treated as a strategic asset.

You will establish governance structures, ownership, standards and controls that improve data quality, regulatory compliance, reporting accuracy and business decision-making, while driving cultural change and embedding accountability for data ownership and AI

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a major services organisation with large-scale data or project management oversight.
• Relevant qualification or equivalent professional experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Information Management, Business Analysis or related discipline.
• Broad and deep knowledge of all aspects of data governance management.
• Experience supporting data strategy and analytics programmes.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain enterprise-wide data quality metrics and thresholds.
• Lead root-cause analysis of recurring data quality issues and coordinate remediation activities.
• Develop and maintain data quality dashboards and reporting mechanisms.
• Establish and chair Data Governance Working Groups and Data Steward communities.
• Define and maintain processes for Data Owner and Data Steward accountability.
• Facilitate governance forums and ensure actions are tracked and delivered.
• Lead the development and maintenance of data cataloguing, business glossary and metadata management capabilities.
• Ensure critical data assets are documented and understood across the organisation.
• Partner with Information Governance, Risk and Data Protection functions to ensure compliance with UK GDPR and relevant regulatory obligations.
• Maintain oversight of data governance risks and support audit activities.
• Lead the development, implementation, adoption and management of the Data Governance Operating Model and Framework including leading culture change to ensure successful adoption of the model
• Lead on drafting and implementing practices, policies, and standards at a technical and functional level that support Data Governance model and framework.
• Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of information assets.
• Support Data Owners and Data Stewards in discharging the responsibilities of their roles, providing training as required.
• Serve as a liaison between operational areas and the IT team to ensure that data related business requirements are clearly defined, communicated, understood and considered as part of systems planning and change projects.
• Support development of governance principles for the ethical and responsible use of AI and advanced analytics.
• Ensure organisational data standards support future AI, reporting and automation initiatives.
• Champion customer values, putting customers at the heart of all you do.
• Provide thought leadership on data management best practice.
• Influence senior stakeholders to improve accountability for data management.
• Develop and maintain a strategic data governance roadmap aligned to organisational priorities.

This large Social Housing organisation are seeking to appoint a Data Governance Manager on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract to lead the development, implementation and continual improvement of Data Governance Frameworks and Operating Model, ensuring data is managed as a strategic organisational asset. The role will establish governance structures, ownership, standards and controls that improve data quality, regulatory compliance, reporting accuracy and business decision-making. You will drive cultural change, embed accountability for data ownership, and support the organisation's ambitions for digital transformation, analytics and emerging technologies including AI.

Key Responsibilities

Data Quality Management:

• Establish and maintain enterprise-wide data quality metrics and thresholds.

Profile

Key Skills & Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a major services organisation, with large-scale data or project management and oversight experience.
